We have partnered with a homewares multi channel specialist who are entering a stage of growth and are seeking a creative and commercial Senior Buyer within the Lighting and Furniture categories. You will report directly in to the Head of Buying and play a lead role in evolving the product range, developing the supply base and driving margin. The role has diverse responsibility and opportunities, which makes this a very exciting position.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a product strategy
  • Monitor and respond to market trends and competitor strategies
  • Identify gaps in the collection and develop new category opportunities
  • Analyse the range with Merchandising, take learnings and react accordingly
  • Create a design direction in conjunction with the marketing and brand teams
  • Manage the critical path and new product development processes
  • Create a supplier strategy to ensure flexibility, stability and drive improvements in margin
  • Develop and manage innovative and professional partnerships with key suppliers
  • Negotiate contracts and terms of business and review opportunities to make cost savings
  • Manage product and supply risk and communicate issues effectively with the business
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures

Ideal candidate:

  • Previously worked within the Lighting and Furniture categories
  • Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships
  • Strong negotiations, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities
  • Relevant product knowledge and understanding of regulations
  • Excellent understanding of the customer journey and complexities in home delivery
  • Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
  • Commercially and financially aware
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
